Please
pardon our web appearance. PlayTogether NYC is the process of
transitioning from a playgroup to a preschool. We will open at our new
location at 84th Street and West End
Avenue in September 2010. Our new home will be a 1,000 square foot
plus, fully furnished classroom with new furniture, equipment and toys.
We are opening a class for two and three year olds with a capacity of 12 children. A certified masters level teacher will be
teaching alongside me and our current assistant, Rosa. Our play based
curriculum and our commitment to individualized goals will remain the
same. However, we will be able to accommodate families who want to enroll
their children more than two days a week. Parents may chose two, three,
five or even one day a week (Fridays only). Our hours of operation will
be 9:00 to 12:30, with an option of an early
dismissal for parents of young twos.
Please
read the contents of our web site, understanding that the specific are outdated
but the philosophy remains the same.
Parents are welcome to visit our new site or visit me at our current location
to get a sense of my work style and how the program works. Please feel
free to email me at nyla@nylakamlet.com or call me at 917.842.2779.
Looking forward to a brand new year.
Nyla –
Founder
Play Together NYC was founded on three basic principles:
Multi-purpose Programming: This is a model that utilizes the idea that each activity can address more than one need or skill at a time. For example, an art project can be fun and exploratory, but it is also designed to work on fine motor skills, visual skills and language processing skills.
Group Learning: Young children enjoy being with other children and can learn at the same time. Even if they are not yet able to play cooperatively, being involved with other children provides a sense of normalcy and adds an element of fun and excitement.
Cost Control: Keeping the cost of our programming within reach of everyone has always been a driving force.
All Play Together classes include:
• Art projects for sensory integration, exploration, and fine motor coordination • Drama exercises for building creativity and confidence • Supervised play for spontaneous thinking, social awareness, listening, sharing and emotional processing
