A day at PlayTogether

9am Drop off

9am-9: 25am: Free Play.
During this time the children will take part in enjoying all of the toys (blocks, art supplies, books, puzzles, etc.) available to them at PlayTogether. Also, at this time is when a special activity will take place such as cooking, creating play-dough from scratch, + other hands-on fun.

Example: When we are discovering apples, there will be a table set up with all different types of apples, + all of the forms that apples can be found in. The children are encouraged to come over and explore using magnifying glasses to look at the apples in all of their different forms. Also while the children are exploring/discovering apples one of the hands-on activities that will take place is creating apple cinnamon scented play-dough. This play-dough will have applesauce mixed right in, to give the children a new texture to feel. In the free play art section the children will be encouraged to do any kind of art they would like using the materials that have been left available for them that day. The supplies left in this area will change weekly

9:25am-9: 35am: Clean up + Potty Break.

9:35-9:50 Group Art
During this time the children, working as a group, (NOTE CHANGE) will create a unique project based on the theme of the day/month using various art materials. This will target fine motor and visual perceptual skills.

Example: When we are discovering all about apples the children will together paint a tree. The next session they will create a unique apple of their own using shaving cream + glue mixed with common apple colors. The children are encouraged to use any or all of the colors that are provided to create their apple. Then they can add on stems + seeds as they would like to make their apple complete.

9:50am-10: 20am: Good Morning Circle
During this time, as a group, the children will sing the welcome song to say hello to each of their friends at PlayTogether. This is a key element in helping children transition from home to PlayTogether. As their friends are singing the children will place their picture on a beehive to show that they came to PlayTogether today. We will also talk about the day of the week, what topic we will be or have been exploring during the last month. Then the children will listen to a story based on that theme.

Example: When we are discovering apples the children will discuss as a group the different parts of an apple, the different textures of an apple, etc. Then a story will be read about apples such as Dr. Seuss’s “How Many Apples on My Head”.

10:20am-10: 35am: Snack Time + Potty Break

10:35am-11: 35 Outdoor Play: or Nature/Neighborhood Walks (Weather Permitting) or Indoor Gross Motor Play.

11:35am-12:05pm: Lunch Time + Potty Break

12:05pm-12: 35pm: Group Drama/Structured Game Playing
During this time the children will take part in various activities that strengthen their language processing skills, self control, and turn taking. We will be using sports equipment, props and the parachute. Every day will be different.

12:35pm-12: 40pm: Clean Up + Potty Break

12:40pm-1pm: Goodbye Circle
During this time a recap of all the fun we had today will be discussed. A story will be read based on the theme of the day/month. The goodbye song will be sung, giving children a chance to say goodbye to their friends. This is a key element in helping the children transition from school to home.
