I am very excited to have Tia Smith as our Educational Specialist. She is particularly talented at making up her own games and exercises based on the needs and interests of the students. She is creative and calm, and uses her unique gifts to help increase children's attention spans.   Through Play Together, Tia is available for individual session as well as small groups. Tia Marie Smith is an Education Specialist with a Masters of Education in Early Childhood Education Birth to Grade 2 and Children with Disabilities Birth to Grade 2. Ms. Smith is a New York Certified Early Interventionist and New York Certified Teacher. She has ten years of experience in the Education field and has previously worked in Arizona, London, and California. Tia Marie has worked as an Education Therapist, Special Instructor, Behavior Therapist, Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) and Classroom Teacher. She has experience working with typically developing children, children with developmental delays and children on the autism spectrum disorder  - where she mentored and supervised in these settings and positions. 

Ms. Smith has extensive experience and training in Developmental Milestones, DIR/Floortime Model and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).  She uses a child-center approach to engage the child to learn through their interests and play to facilitate the highest level of development and learning.  Tia Marie's enthusiasm and experience makes her a well-rounded teacher who values the importance of a team approach of parents, caregivers, family members and the child's own strengths and needs to build a foundation for the child to reach his or her fullest potential.
